Dear Parents of the JPDS Student Council,

I know that it is late in the year, but I finally thought to get an email list together of all the Student Council parents. So, for those of you that don't know me, my name is Lindsey Marks, and I am the 6th grade General Studies teacher as well as the Student Council advisor.

It has been a pleasure working with all of your children this year! They are so excited to attend the meetings each week, and under the leadership of Dani Kupfer, the meetings are mostly student-led.

In the beginning of the year, the Student Council discussed what its main focus should be this year. They decided that our number one goal for the year is to work on Henry's Garden. This is an important project for the students and for the school, especially since this year would have been Henry's graduation from JPDS.

The students have planned fundraisers, and one has successfully been completed. The next event is the biggest one that the Student Council has ever faced. We are planning JPDS's first school dance. It is called the Snowball, and the first flyer will go out in HaShavua this week.

The students are very excited about this, especially since this will be an extremely fun event sponsored by the Student Council. The students are involved in making all the decisions about this dance, and I welcome any suggestions or advice that you may have.

I would also greatly appreciate some volunteers to help organize and/or chaperone the dance. Please let me know if you are available to come on Sunday, February 17th from 5-7 pm. I would, of course, not make you stay the entire two hours.

Please spread the word about this to other parents! Part of this will also be a fundraiser, so the more students we get to come, the more money we can raise.

Please feel free to email me at anytime with questions or comments.

Thanks,
Lindsey
